Apple has confirmed a new iOS 15.5 update for the iPhone, which is presently in beta testing ahead of its official launch later this year.
Because iOS 15.5 is a milestone upgrade, it is likely that the software will include more than just bug fixes and security updates for iPhone users. It should also include some new features.
Apple has still not confirmed the iOS 15.5 release date, and it could be a few weeks before the firmware becomes available. Currently, the stable version of Apple’s operating system is iOS 15.4.1. This minor update fixed some major issues in iPhones. You can read the complete detail here.
You can try an early version of the iOS 15.5 on your iPhone right now if you don’t want to wait for the stable release.
In this article, we’ll go over the known changes in the iOS 15.5 update, what to expect from the iOS 15.5 release date and time, information about the iOS 15.5 beta, and much more.
iOS 15.5 Beta Version
If you are very excited about the iOS 15.5 and can’t wait for a stable version you can start using the iOS 15.5 on your phone right now.
Apple has released the iOS 15.5 beta to developers, which means that those who are members of the company’s developer community can now download a pre-release version of the firmware.
The company has also distributed the iOS 15.5 beta to those who have signed up for the Beta Software Program. A developer account has an annual fee, whereas the Beta Software Program is free for everyone with a compatible device and an active Apple ID.
Before you install the iOS 15.5 beta, keep in mind that pre-release software is always riddled with glitches and poor performance. These issues may have an impact on the performance of your core apps, the battery life of your iPhone, and its overall speed, making it more difficult to use as a daily driver.
You should be able to fix some issues on your own, however, some glitches and performance issues will almost certainly necessitate a future Apple fix.
If you are unhappy with the performance of the iOS 15.5 beta on your iPhone, you can revert to iOS 15.4.1. The downgrade path to older iOS firmware, such as iOS 15.4, is no longer available.
Apple is currently on iOS 15.5 beta 3.
Date of Release iOS 15.5
The iOS 15.5 release date has not been confirmed by Apple. Given that we’re only on the third beta version, it will most probably stay in diagnostics for several weeks while Apple and the testing team poke and prod it for glitches. As of now, we anticipate that the official release will take place in May or June.
Time of Release iOS 15.5
We don’t yet have an official iOS 15.5 release date, but we do know when Apple will release the software on the date it selects.
The official version of iOS 15.5 is expected to be released around 10 a.m. Pacific time. It can take a few minutes for iOS updates to appear, so don’t be concerned if you don’t see new software immediately.
Around 10 a.m. Pacific, Apple will also release iOS 15.5 beta updates for developers and those enrolled in the Beta Software Program. Every 1-2 weeks, the company releases a new beta.
Keep this timeline in mind if you intend to install the latest iOS 15.5 beta releases or the official version of iOS 15.5.
Features of iOS 15.5
Apple’s major updates (x.x) almost always include new features, improvements, security updates, and bug fixes for iPhone users, and iOS 15.5 should be no exception.
Developers have discovered a few tweaks while digging through the iOS 15.5 beta. They include request and Send buttons in the Apple Pay section of Wallet, a rebranding of iTunes Pass in Wallet, a change to Apple Pay in the Messages app, support for apps with external purchases, Apple Pay support for Bancomat and Bancontact, and a Critical Alerts notification in the Home app. The latest iOS 15.5 beta also disables ‘Sensitive Locations’ in the Photos app for Memories.
So far, it’s a relatively minor update. As testing progresses, Apple may add to or subtract from the iOS 15.5 beta, and we’ll let you know whether there are any variations between the beta and the final release.
Jailbreak iOS 15.5
If you still want to jailbreak, stay away from the iOS 15.5 beta.
We do not anticipate that developers will release a tool that is compatible with the iOS 15.5 beta. They haven’t released one for the official version of iOS 15, and it may be a while before they do.
We’ll keep you updated as we learn more.
After Apple releases iOS 15.5 the next big release will be iOS 16. Apple will probably release the iOS 16 with the launch of the iPhone 14 series.
Apple is expected to make significant changes in iPhone 14 designs. With that being said we can also expect some major changes in the User Interface of iOS 16.
We will update you about iOS 16 once we know for sure what Apple plans to do with iOS 16 and iPhone 14.
