1. Check your Internet Connection

This is the most common reason for “couldn’t refresh feed” error message. Some of the posts on Instagram app are already loaded and saved in cache memory but as we scroll more, we get the error.

So you may assume that problem occurred just now. But actually, your internet (Wi-Fi/Mobile Data) was not turned on or there is some problem with the Internet service provider.

So make sure to check for your Wi-Fi or mobile data connection, turn it on if it is not already, and then try loading the Instagram again.

2. Mobile Data Limit

3. Disable your VPN

People use VPNs more often these days. You all are aware that VPN connections are used to get access to banned sites or apps.

Sometimes, Instagram doesn’t allow you to use Instagram. if your VPN is turned, try disabling your VPN connection and reload the feed. This probably will fix the problem.  

4.  Check For Updates

Most of the social media apps provide updates frequently, whether it is Instagram, Snapchat, or Facebook or WhatsApp. Some of the updates will be minor bug fixes and others will be major updates. If you have not updated your Instagram for a long time you might get a “couldn’t refresh feed” message. To fix this issue simply update your app. You can update it from the Play store if you are an Android and if you are an iPhone user you can update it from the Apple store.

5. Log out and Log in Again

No, I don’t mean you have to beat your smartphone (Don’t do that please). Just hit log out and close the app. Now relaunch the app and login again. 1. Tap on the Profile button, tap on the three dots at the top and then press the Settings icon.

2. Tap on the Log Out option and again tap on Log Out. Finally, you have logged out. Now sign in again using your username and password and try scrolling the feed. The problem should go away.

6. Kill the App and relaunch

We assume that you have already tried out this method (because it is the first thing one would do). But if you haven’t just closed the Instagram app by going back to the home screen. Now kill the app by removing it from the recently opened apps or you can also force close it.  Now open the app again.

Your Instagram feed should be working now.

7. Refresh Cache Memory

The current smartphones are very smart and maintains the apps cache for the user’s own benefit. But sometimes smartphone’s built-in maintenance mechanism becomes the root cause of the problem. The cache can be a hindrance to the Instagram’s smooth functioning, making it difficult for you to load the feed properly. Once app cache gets cleared all the problems with your Instagram app might also get cleared away.

To clear the Instagram cache manually, follow these steps:

1. Open the phone settings and head to the App manager.

2. Now, open Instagram from the list of apps.

3. Select the Storage option in the next step.

4. Simply tap on Clear cache to clear all the junk Instagram files.

8. Restart your Phone

Restarting an electronic device is usually the best option and mostly solves the problem too.
